    3. The Oskaloosa Times Friday May 4, 1900 25 Years For Kirby. Thos. C. KIRBY, who was convicted about a month ago of the murder of Agent FOLEY, of the U.P. road, at Perry, was sentenced by Judge Gephart yesterday morning to serve a term of 25 years at hard labor in the penitentiary. His attorneys gave notice of an appeal to the higher courts for a new trial, but it is not expected that the appeal will be granted as the evidence is too strong against Kirby. Special attention will be paid to the jail durnign the next week to see that there is no delivery. The prisoner will be removed to Lansing next week. Nearly everyone sympathises with Mrs. Kirby and her children, but few feel sorry for Kirby as the evidence was so strong against him.
