The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday September 8, 1910 Mrs. Anna DOWNING died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Henry COOK, east of town Friday morning after a few hour's illness. Funeral services were held at the R.P. church, Rev. Jeffrey preaching the sermon, and she was laid to rest in the Hull cemetery. Those from abroad who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. CECIL of Goff, Miss Jessie DOWNING of Kansas City, Lem KEATON and family of Independence, Kansas, Will KEATON of Leavenworth besides relatives from St. Joseph and Kansas City.
