The Meriden Message Jefferson County Friday July 31, 1931 John Schaffer Dead. John SCHAFFR, former resident of Meriden, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F.B. BIRMINGHAM, at Topeka last Thursday. He moved to Meriden in 1898, opening a harness shop. Ten years ago he moved to Topeka, retiring from business. His daughter, Mrs. Chas SIMONTON, formerly Lizzie Schaffer published the Meriden Ledger for several years. Funeral services were held Saturday morning and burial was in Meriden cemetery. His wife died in 1922. He is survived by three daughters and one son, six grandchildren.
