The Valley Falls New Era Thursday July 21, 1910 A.W. LAIRD, of west of town, enjoyed a visit from two of his brothers, last week, from Oklahoma. P.E. Laird has been employed as a teacher in the Southwestern Oklahoma Normal, at Durant, and his brother F.P. has been teaching in the state as well. Mr. Laird says wages for teachers are much better in the new state than here, and the buildings are much more pretentious as well. He says the cotton prospect there is not so good as common on account of the dry weather. Miss Una SCRANTON, who with her sister, Helen, has been visiting her aunt, Mrs. Geo. McNORTON and other relatives, was called home to Cleveland, Ohio, Tuesday, owing to the serious illness of her brother-in-law, Ed. BAILEY, subject to an operation for appendicitis. Miss Helen will remain until September first, the limit of their intended visit, the guest of her cousins, Mrs. E.F. WETTIG and Mrs. Will THOMPSON, being indisposed and taking osteopathic treatment.
