    3. The Valley Falls New Era Thursday July 21, 1910 Nearly Drowned. Capt. EVANS informs us that his daughter, Pearl, Mrs. SWIFT and Mr. and Mrs. CLOUD, came near drowning in an Indiana lake. They were fishing from a boat anchored to a bridge, when the vessel was upset by Cloud's boy falling from the bridge into the boat, throwing them into water forty feet deep. Hanging onto the boat in water up to their necks they realized the great need of help. It came in the person of two small boys in another boat and they were quickly rescued from the perilious position. It was a narrow escape. They walked one and a half miles in their wet clothes to their auto and back seventeen miles away.
