    3. The Valley Falls New Era Thursday March 31, 1910 Col. J.F. TRUE, of Topeka, was here the last of last week in the interest in raising money for the purpose of erecting a monument to the memory of the late Col. HARRIS. In but few counties could such a condition such as this exist--a union soldier soliciting funds for the erection of a monument to the memory of a confederate soldier. The "bloody shirt" is certainly buried. Sam ALLEN has a letter from his brother Ivey who has been quite sick in Ottumwa, Iowa, in which he says he has so far recovered as to be able to go to work again. Mrs. Alta ROYER has been quite sick this week with what seems to be sort of new kind of grip that effects the throat.
