The Nortonville News Jefferson County Friday May 8, 1942 Katherine Irene, daughter of Mrs. Alice McDERMOND and the late J.T. McDermond, was born in Winchester, Kan., May 24, 1891, and departed this life at her home near Winchester, April 30, 1942, aged 50 years, eleven months and six days. Her departure was sudden following a cerebral hemorrhage. She was preceded in death by her father, John McDermond, an infant brother, John T., Jr., and on January 13 of this year, by a beloved brother, Raphael. Nearly all her life was spent in the vicinity of Winchester. At an early age she united with the United Presbyterian church where her willing service will be greatly missed. She attended the Winchester schools and later entered Nurse's Training at Research hospital in Kansas City, Mo., where she graduated at a registered nurse, May 14, 1914. After graduation she was employed as a surgical nurse in the Research hospital for some two years. She was united in marriage to James Cameron CURRY, December 27, 1916. To this union was born one daughter, Hazel Zoe. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband and daughter, Mrs. Neel FULTON; two grandchildren, Marie and Jimmie Fulton; her mother, Mrs. Alice McDermond; and three sisters, Mrs. Ina WHITAKER and Mrs. Agnes LINDSAY of Nortonville and Mrs. Hazel HADLEY of Jamestown, Calif.
