The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday September 30, 1909 Death of Little Grandchild. Grandma J.W. COOLING east of town is in receipt of the sad word of the death of her little granddaughter Birdean at Grenola, Kansas. Alma Birdean CLARK, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lambert CLARK, died August 27, 1909, aged one year and twenty-one days, after a short but severe illness. She was a patient sufferer. The funeral was held August 28, at 2 p.m. from the family residence conducted by the family pastor, Rev. H. W. Todd. He took for a text, "I will go to her. She can not return to me." The music was furnished by the Ladies Quartett who very appropriately and tenderly rendered as one of the selections, "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus." The large concourse of friends and the beautiful floral offerings attested the little darling had captured the hearts of others as well as father, mother, brothers and sisters.
Hello. My name is JoLynne Martinez, and I'm a new list member. I am researching the history of my grandparents, Bailey Mack and Cora Bell (Lindsay) Van Meter. Is anyone else on this list researching the Van Meter or Lindsay surnames?
I will add those names to the list I carry around for Jefferson county. In the meantime, if you haven't already, you should check the archives going back several years, for these surnames, that may have been posted to the mailing list. Have a good one!! Thanks, Jim. I actually have a good start on the family history, because of work older relatives have already done. However, what they had were simply lists of names and dates. I'm working on fleshing out the family history with more details and documentation. So as I plug along, I'll most likely be putting out requests for specific information or sources of info. Also, I'm in Kansas City, Mo., and if anyone has family history here and needs a lookup, just let me know. -- JoLynne
