    3. The Valley Falls New Era Thursday September 16, 1909 Pacific Items. Mr. and Mrs. Will SEAVERS spent the 5th with his brother James Seavers and family. Miss Minnie HOSLER of Nortonville was the guest of her friend Miss Louise HALL Sunday. Eva and Blanche BATES were the guests of Misses Nellie and Mable CURTIS last Friday. Amos GRIFFIN who has been seriously sick at his home seems to very little better at this writing. Mrs. Calvin SLOOP spent one day last week with her cousin, Miss Lela COPPINGER of Winchester. Mrs. Marian SMITH spent last Saturday with her sister-in-law, Mrs. W. F. DANIELS in Valley Falls. Mr. and Mrs. KING of near Nortonville took Sunday dinner with thier daughters Mrs. James SEAVERS and family. Miss Geneva SLOOP spent Monday with her brother Calvin and wife and assisted Mrs. S. COOK for threshers. Last week, while Walter and Charley GREEN were threshing north of Prairie Hall, Walter met with what might have been a serious accident. Walter while working around the engine got his arm in a wheel and was badly bruised, but is now able to be with the machine again. James and Orville LEIGAN were several days last week at the home of Will BRITTEN. Mr. Britten is very low with abscess of the lungs and consumption but is somewhat better as we go to press, and hope he continues getting better. We received a card last week from Miss Ellen BOYLE who left a week ago for Redfield. She is Principal of the High School there and says she likes her school fine. Her sister, Grace teaches at Perry, where she taught last year. Mrs. James LEIGAN visited her mother, Mrs. D.N. ERTEL and sisters, Misses Alice and Minnie who have returned home from Jewell County one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. J.W. FRAZIER and sons Omer and Roy, were the guests of Mrs. Fraziers grandparents, John COOLING and wife, the 12th. Miss Frances BATES has returned to her home at Chanute after spending several days with her cousin, Mrs. Mel HOUSTON. Mr. and Mrs. A.A. GRIFFIN spent last Wednesday with her daughter, Mrs. James MILLER and family near Nortonville.
