The Oskaloosa Times Friday June 23, 1899 Leech's Home Burns. About 10 o'clock last night the peace and quiet of our slumbering city was disturbed by the dread cry of fire! and then the fire bell began to ring. The fire was in the kitchen and rear portion of W.F. LEECH's residence, in the northwest part of town. The fire company and almost every other man and woman in town, answered the bell and they soon had the fire under control. Several feats of exceptional bravery were performed by members of the fire department and the citizens' who assisted them. The house is almost a complete loss. It was partly covered by insurance.
