There are several William Rogers listings in the Jefferson County tombstone inscription book ("Tombstone Inscriptions and Burials, Jefferson County, Kansas, 1854-1986," compiled by the Jefferson County Genealogical Society). I think this is your guy: ROGERS, William Fletcher d 28 Dec 1871, UNKN which means they don't know where he's buried either.
