Services for Mrs. Effie Shirley SMYTH, 81, 2145 Maryland, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with burial in Holton Cemetery. She died Wednesday in a Topeka hospital after a short illness. She was born July 13, 1884, at Grantville and had lived in Topeka since 1938. Mrs. Smyth was a member of the Grantville Methodist Church. Her husband Charles H. Smyth died in 1947. Survivors include two sons, Dandford H. Smyth, Wichita, and Brig. Gen. Philip W. Smyth, 2145 Maryland; two brothers, George SHIRLEY and Arch SHIRLEY, both of Grantville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
