The Meriden Message Jefferson County Friday May 15, 1931 Sarah A. LAPPING wa born in Belvediere, Ill., December 4, 1862. She moved to Boone county, Nebraska, at the age of 10 years. She was united in marriage October 10, 1881, to James H. ALLEN. To this union were born three sons, Alfred Jesse Allen, of Detroit, Mich., Milan Arthur Allen, of Montzuma, Kansas. Forrest Chester Allen, who passed away December 10, 1923, and one daughter, Mrs. Cordie Frances SHAFFER, Topeka. Besides her husband and three surviving children she leaves on brother, one sister and two granddaughters. Mrs. Allen came with her family to Kansas in 1896 and settled in the vicinity of Meriden where they have resided continously. She was united with the Methodist Episcopal church Feb. 19, 1907, and led an active part for a few years, when failing health kept her confined to her home. She was a charter member of the Eastern Star, also a member of the Royal neighobors and Security Benefit Association. She passed away at her home Thursday morning, May 6, having been failing rapidly for the past three years. The funeral was held at the M.E. church at Meriden Sunday May 10, at 2 p.m. Burial was in Bonner Springs cemetery.
