    3. The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday April 28, 1899 A Water Spout Does Damage. Buck Creek and Williamstown were visited with a terrible water spout last Wednesday evening. Considerable damage was done and some stock lost. Mr. PEATREE lost one steer, Ben WILSON 15 head of hogs, Tom FARREL 15 head of hogs, Chat McCOY, 16 head, Wm. BAYNE, 20 head, Ed. WEBB, 1 cow, John HUTCHINSON 2 calves and some hogs, Walter UNKLE 18 head of hogs. Lightning struck Mont EVANS house and Pete STALLARDS barn, but no serious damage was done. The stock yards at Buck Creek and two hundred feet of the U.P. railroad track was washed away. A hard rain and hail storm visited our city the same evening, but no damage was done.
