    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday June 9, 1910 Matthew GLIEM, father of the late Ferdinand Gliem, of Atchison, died May 31, 1910, at the home of his son, John, one mile east of Arrington, of a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Gliem was in his eightieth year, and had lived on his farm near Arrington over forty-five years. He divided his time with his children, and had left the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.B. MILLER, of Muscotah, where he had been since February first, to visit with his son John, May 1st. He is survived by five children: John of Arrington, Matthew Gliem of Pottawatomie county; Mrs. W.B. MILLER of Valley Falls, and Mrs. John HERDE, of Hoyt, Kas. The funeral was held from the home of John Gliem Thursday, with services at the Congregational church at Muscotah and interment in the Muscotah cemetery. The death of Fredinand Gliem March 8 made his father hier to an estate valued at $10,000 or more. It will be recalled that some of the children feared undue influence would be brought to bear upon the old gentleman, causing him to give his property away, and proceedings were brought April 1 to have him declared insane. The trail was held April 12, when Matthew Gliem gave such evidence of a sane mind that the insanity charge was dismissed.--Atchison Globe.
