The Valley Fall New Era Jefferson County Thursday August 12, 1909 Farm House Burns. A little after twelve o'clock Tuesday the farm house of Mrs. Ella CHRISTENSON, just west of the Gillies place burned. The exact cause of the blaze is not definitely known, but it is supposed to have stared from an overheated cook stove. Mrs. Christenson and her son Frank had gone to town, and Mrs. RINDOM was doing some ironing heating her irons in the kitchen and having her table in another room to get away from the heat. The first she knew of the fire she discovered the entire kitchen in a blaze. Neighbors came and assisted as best they could, and succeeded in getting out quite a little household goods, and in keeping the fire from catching the haystacks and stable on the north, but nothing could be done to save the house. Mrs. Christenson carried insurance in the Co-operative for $600 on the house and $200 on the contents and before eight o'clock of the same evening she had check for her money.
