STRANGE, 24, of Smithsville, Mo., to marry Miss Rosalie BABER, 22, of Edgerton, Mo. Judge Decker performed the ceremony. Licence was issued to William M. Floyd MAY, 21, to marry Miss Anna Bertha PIERCE, 20, both of Edgerton, Mo. Judge Decker performed the ceremony.
The Meriden Message Jefferson County Friday April 10, 1931 George W. JONES, 68, for years a linotype operator for the Topeka Daily Capital, died at his home four miles north of Perry last Sunday, April 5. Burial was in Buster cemetery Tuesday afternoon. The Masonic lodge of Topeka had charge of the services. A wife and five children survive Jones, who had been confined to his bed for nearly three years.

The Topeka Daily Capital Friday August 20, 1920 Deaths and Funerals. METZGER--John METZGER, 69, died yesterday at his home, five miles north of North Topeka. The funeral will be held from the Meriden Methodist church at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Burial in Meriden cemetery. BROWN--The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Brown, who died Tuesday will be held from the church of the Assumption at 9 o'clock this morning. Burial in Mount Calvary cemetery. The body will lie in state from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Hamilton's undertaking parlors. HELM--The funeral of William Helm who died Wednesday will be held from his home, 224 Twins avenue, at 1:45 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Services also will be held at the Carbondale Methodist church at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Burial in Carbondale cemetery.

The Meriden Message Friday March 20, 1931 Mt. Pleasant Items. Mrs. Sarah STEWART and son Raymond visited her mother and other relatives at Salina last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. MICHAEL received news of a new granddaughter in Kansas City at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde MICHAEL. Mr. and Mrs. George STANLEY and family moved this spring to the DEWEY farm one mile south of Meriden. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd STEWART and family spent Sunday with Mr. Stewart's mother at Dwight, Kansas, helping her celebrate her birthday.

The Meriden Message Jefferson County Friday March 20, 1931 Altha Elaine BAKER was born August 7, 1915, in Topeka, Kansas, and died at Christ's hospital, Topeka, March 9, 1931, after a brief illness. She leaves to mourn her going her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert T. Baker, two brothers, Harold and Lawrence, and five sisters, Dorothy, Margaret, Virginia, Betty Jane, and Minnie June, all of the home at Meriden. Altha was an eighth grade pupil in the Meriden grade school. She joined the U.B. church, Nov. 20, 1928. She was a genial disposition and always appreciated friendship. Her sudden and untimely death has brought the sympathy of the entire community to her parents and relatives.
The Meriden Message Friday March 20, 1931 Cards have been received announcing the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. John BOTTOMS, of Washington state. Mrs. Bottoms was Miss Freda DARLAND and spent her childhood days near Meriden.
The Meriden Message Friday March 13, 1931 Mt. Pleasant. Mr. George DAVIS and family moved to Topeka last week and Mr. and Mrs. Bert FOWLER moved on to the farm they left from Lyndon, Kansas. Miss Iva DAVIS from Kansas City is spending a few days at Sherman MICHAELS. Mrs. Wm. MICHAEL has been on the sick list the last week. Harry DEPPE and family have moved to Ozawkie and Mr. Perry PENNEY and family moved on to the Deppe home place. Fred DEPPE and wife moved from over by Meriden to the Thos. HANEY farm by Ozawkie.
The Meriden Message Jefferson County Friday March 13, 1931 Malinda Francis McCLAIN was born Jan. 1, 1884, in Putman County, Mo., and departed this life, March 1, 1931, at the age of 87 years and two months. Coming to Kansas with her parents at the age of two years, they spent three years at Fort Scott, Kansas, then came to Jefferson County where she had resided continously since practically all this time in Ozawkie. She was united in marriage with Matthew LOGSDON in 1865, and to them three daughters and three sons were born. Her companion died thirty-one years ago, leaving here with the care and responsibility of the home. Being frail of body and almost blind for twenty-two years she was greatly hindered in life's activities, but went quietly about doing what she could to fill her place in the home. She was a believer in the Christian religion and lived in the hope of better things to come. But on account of her physical condition she seldom went any where, choosing rather to spend her days quietly at home. Her son, John, who had been with her in the home and Ben F. of Hargrave, Kansas are the only children left. Mrs. Mamie BARRETT of Topeka, and Mrs. Blanche HITE of Grand Island, Nebraska, granddaughters, and one brother, Ben, of Perne, Kan. These five will miss her most. And yet, the whole community is saddened by the tragedy connected with her sudden going out from us. The funeral was conducted from the Church of the Brethren, Wednesday, March 4th, 2:00 p.m.
The Oskaloosa Times Friday April 28, 1899 Wm. LONG has filed suit against Earl BROWN and Fred CLARK for $7,500 for assault and injury by shooting. William TRAPP went down to Kansas City on Wednesday to bring his father Washington Trapp home. Mr. Trapp has been quite sick. Randolph MOSS received a telegram on Monday informing him of the serious illness of his daughter at Pawnee. He started on the first train for the bed-side of his sick child, and may be gone some time, as he intends to stay until she is out of danger.

The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday April 28, 1899 Peacefully She Sleeps. Miss Cordetia PEDIFORD, after a lingering illness, peacefully passed away, at the Salvation Army Hospital, in Topeka, April 21st. The remains were shipped to Valley Falls; funeral services at the German church north of the city, Sunday afternoon and interred in that cemetery. She was born in Bell Co., Ky., September 29th, 1871, and for the last few years made Valley Falls her home. She was a member of the Christian church here, and had many friends who will miss her. She leaves a mother, three sisters and three brothers in Texas, and her sister, Mrs. M. STUCKERT here, who mourn the loss of a beloved daughter and sister.

The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday April 21, 1899 A Midnight Visitor. J.R. MARTIN had a call from a burglar, Sunday night. About one o'clock he was awakened by feeling something drag across his face, he caught hold of it and afterwards found that it was his vest. The burglar let go his hold of the vest, blew out the light and made his exit, as soon as Mr. Martin woke up. Mr. Martin only secured a glimpse of the burlgar, but he says that he was a small sized white man.

It was this couple that were married at midnight last Friday. Fred SMITH and Nellie G. PETTIT, both of Ozawkie. F.C. HART of Perry and Jessie BROWN of Meriden.
