Services will be at 2 p.m Thursday at Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary and at 4 p.m. Thursday at Valley Falls Methodist Church for William LANGSTON, 87, who died Tuesday at his home, 415 Oakley, after a long illness. Burial will be in Valley Falls Cemetery. He was born May 29, 1877 in Atchison County and had lived in Topeka since 1942. He was a retired employe of Topeka State Hospital. Earlier he wa a farmer and a carpenter. He attended the Christian Church and was a member of IOOF Lodge. He was a member of American War Dads 20 years. A son, William Langston, Jr., died four years ago. Survivors include his wife, Miss Lillie Langston, at home; two sons, Claude Langston, Valley Falls, and George Langston, Oakland, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel METZGER, Mrs. Marie BROWN and Mrs. Leona CURTIS, all of Valley Falls; a stepson, Mack KARNES, 508 Horne; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Glen JONES, 2417 Central Park, Mrs. Bill Mathieu, Mobile, Ala., and Mrs. Earl WASHBURN, Osage City; two brothers, Frank Langston, 705 Poplar, and Walter Langston, Independence, Mo.; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Winfield, who died Tuesday at a Topeka hospital after a short illness. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery at Perry. She was born Jan. 2, 1896, at Perry and spent most of her life in the Topeka area. Survivors include her husband, Clarence E. Dixon, at home; two sons, Robert L. Dixon, Norfolk, Va. and Harold R. BUCHANAN, 3103 Harland Court; a daughter, Mrs. Jack FROST, Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Albert RANK, Perry; a brother, Floyd McCALL, Perry; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday February 3, 1965 J.F. Dilley Dies; Rites On Thurday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Davidson-Eslinger-Duff Funeral Home for John F. DILLEY, 57, 2414 Thomas, who died Monday at a Topeka hospital after a long illness. He was born July 31, 1907, at Londale, Ill., and had lived in the Grantville and Topeka communities the past 50 years. He was a former employe of Union Pacific Railroad. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Donna Ortez, Richmond, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Ruth CARLSON, at home; a brother, Ike DILLEY, 647 Wabash; and three grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Dilley will lie in state after noon today at the funeral home.

    3. The Meriden Message Friday September 4, 1931 W.O. Warner Celebrates 80th Birthday. Lorain WARNER, from California came to visit his brother, W.O. aand help him celebrate his eightieth birthday on Aug. 27. A big birthday dinner with two birthday cakes was served at his home Thursday, and Sunday all of his children and grandchildren spent the day at Gage Park. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Warner and family, Scott Warner and family, of Topeka, and his brother, Lorain, who is seventy-eight years old. W.O. Warner was born in Wayne Co., Ohio, in 1851. He has had an eventful and interesting life and is still enjoying good health. He spentmany years of his life in railroad work, assisting in the construction of U.P., Santa Fe, Louisville and Nashville, Burlington, Milwaukee and St. Paul. He had charge of equipment on railroad construction from Cumberland Gap to Storm Gap, Va., railroaded in the Rocky Mt. region in Wyoming and helped in snow blockcades. He drove an ox team in Nebraska, hauling contract buiding material for school houses, had a store at Lone Tree, Neb., in an Indian settlement and there is where he learned to speak the Indian dialect of the Pawnee tribe. He was immigrant agent for Santa Fe five years and had a pass that permitted im to ride on all branches of the system from Chicago to the cities of Mexico. He is the oldest practicing auctioneer in the state. Long may he live to dispel his usual cheer and happiness.

    3. The Meriden Message Jefferson County Friday September 4, 1931 Mrs. F.E. Weibel Dies. Mrs. F.E. WEIBEL, 45, died at her home in Ozawkie last Sudnay, Aug. 30, following three months decline in health after a stroke of apoplexy during the first part of May. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 1, conducted by Rev. Jones, at the U.B. church and burial was in Ozawkie cemetery. Mrs. Weibel was a daughter of Mrs. W.R. RAINES.

    3. The Meriden Message Jefferson County Friday September 4, 1931 Lightning Kills Boy. Ralph Austin, 15-year-old son of Guy NOEL, farmer who lives northeast of Rock Creek, was killed Monday evening, when a bolt of lightning struck him as he was driving in the cows from pasture. He had planned to enter Rock Creek high school this fall. Funeral services were held at the U.B. church in Rock Creek and burial was in Valley Falls cemetery.

Miss Vivian STANLEY of Topeka has been visiting Mrs. Stanley the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Will MEYERS, Cecil and Alberta, and Mr. Howard BATES spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Mell METZGER and family, Sunday being Mr.and Mrs. MEYERS and Mr. and Mrs. Mell METZGER's 20th anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Roy METZGER and son, Mrs. Alma McGUIRE and Mr. Noah MARKER visited several days of last week with Henry FIELDS and Earl MAYS at Shenandoah.

The Meriden Message Jefferson County Friday August 7, 1931 The funeral of Miss Marjorie ALLEN, daughter of Mr. Cleve Allen of Kansas City, Kans., was held in the church at Williamstown, Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m., Miss Allen was drowned in the Kaw near DeSoto while bathing last Sunday. The funeral services were conducted by Guy V. Gates and the music by the Perry choir.

Beauchamp united in marriage Mr. James H. HAYES, of Argentine, Kansas and Miss Ina LINTON of Valley Falls. Mr. Hayes is employed as a machinist in Argentine. The bride is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Linton of Valley Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Hayes will live in Argentine. The best wishes of many friends will follow this couple in their new life.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday June 23, 1910 Death of Madge Wilson. Madge, little seven year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. WILSON of Linwood, Kan., died at Bell Hospital in Kansas City, Thursday, June 16, 1910, where she had been taken for an operation for liver trouble, from which she had been a sufferer since November. Local physicians and the most skilled specialists failed to give any relief and she grew gradually worse till an operation was decided on as a last resort. The operation performed at noon Tuesday resulted in finding and removing two small tumors completely closing the gall duct. She survived the operation and Wednesday strong hopes were entertained of her recovery; but internal hemorrhage set in on Thursday and at evening she passed away. Little Madge was a most bright and affectionate child, and leaves a sorrow among family and friends never to be forgotten. The remains were brought to Linwood, Friday morning, where friends adminstered to the comfort of the bereaved ones at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred BOWEN. Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church at 1:30 o'clock after which burial followed in Linwood cemetery. A beautiful boquet of white carnations from the Royal Neighbors, of which Mrs. Wilson was a member, were among the floral offerings. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson formerly lived near Valley Falls. Mrs. W. being a daughter of Frank VANGASSBECK of North Cedar.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday June 16, 1910 Ed. Bechtel Married. >From the Muskogee, Times-Democrat, Okla., we clip the following wedding notice. Mr Bechtel and his sister, Mrs. IRVIN were for many years residents of Valley Falls. Bechtel--Anderson. Wednesday evening at the home of the groom's brother-in-law, Mr. W.S. Irvin, 1115 Georgetown avenue, Mr. Edward E. BECHTEL and Miss Lillian Gertrude ANDERSON were united in marriage, James K. Thompson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. There were present as witnesses only, Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Irvin. Mr. Bechtel is a contractor of some note, and prominent in fraternity circles; for some time being a state organizer for the A.O.U.W., of which he has for some years been an active member. Mrs. Bechtel is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.J. ANDERSON of Caschion, Okla., and was prominent in social and literary circles in the western portion of the state. The wedding while previously announced, was yet a surprise in the matter of time and place to the many friends of the contracting parties. Mr. and Mrs. Bechtel will be at home to friends after June 12th at 1613 W. Okmulgee avenue.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday June 9, 1910 William Wilby NICHOLS was born in Pheonixville, Penn., March 14, 1848, died at his home near Nortonville, May 25, 1910, aged 62 years, 2 months, and 11 days. He moved to La Salle county, Ill., with his parents in 1854. In April 1863 he moved to Jefferson county, Kansas, which place has since been his home most of the time. In 1864 at the age of 16 he was a government freightor from Fort Leavenworth to Salt Lake City, Utah, and made two trips to that city. He returned home in 1866, and was married in 1867 to Minerva J. CATT in St. Louis, Mo., and for three years lived in Vincennes, Ind. In 1870 he and his family returned to Jefferson county, Kansas. In 1875 he again entered the government service as freightor and freighted from Dodge City, Kansas, to Sweet Water City, Texas. At this time he traveled over the entire southwestern part of the United States. Was also on the Buffalo Range five or six months. He returned home in the last fall of 1877 and had remained in Kansas since that time. He has been in poor health for the past six years. He leaves a wife, four sons, four daughters and one brother. The funeral services were held at his home at Nichols Station, Rev. Clay Bobbitt of the Presbyterian church of Nortonville officiating, assisted by the F.A.A. lodge of Valley Falls. The floral decorations were many and beautiful. He was followed to his last resting place by his entire family, his brother and a host of sorrowing friends.
