The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday August 11, 1910 Margaret REICHART nee ABBUEHL was born at Guttanan, Oberhaselle, Canton Bern, Switzerland, Feb. 26, 1839 and died near Valley Falls, Kans., Aug. 6, 1910, aged 71 years, 5 months and 20 days. In 1852 she came to America with her parents, and lived in Madison County Illinois, until 1855, when they moved to Valley Falls, Kansas. In 1860 she was married to Fred Reichart who preceded here to the better world six years ago. Sister Reichart was converted some 30 years ago and united with the Coal Creek Evangelical Church and was faithful member until death. Now she is gone but her works do follow her. She leaves seven sons and one daughter to mourn her loss besides many other relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor of the Evangelical Church at Coal Creek, Sunday afternnoon August 7, 1910, in the presence of a large congregation, and the remains were laid to rest in the Coal Creek cemetery.

    3. The Topeka Capital-Journal Sunday April 3, 1966 Thomas Cline Of Nortonville Dies at Age 74. Nortonville.--Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Warren Funeral Home here for Thomas Lloyd CLINE, 74, Route 1, Cummings, who died Saturday in a Winchester hospital. He was born March 22, 1892 at Cummings in Atchison County and spent most of his life in the Cummings community. He was a member of Kickapoo Lodge No. 4, AF&AM, at Potter. He was a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Cline, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Roy CORMODE, Lancaster, Mrs. James R. FOSTER and Mrs. Sylvestr POWELL both of Mission, and Mrs. Alex BLAU, Overland Park; a sister, Mrs. Nellie DECKER, Route 4, Atchison and 11 grandchildren. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery near Cummings where Kickapoo Lodge No. 4, AF&AM, will conduct graveside services. Mr. Cline will lie from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Thursday August 11, 1910 Hurt on a Train. Last Friday night Pat SHERMAN and Chester STEWART, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stewart, left Valley Falls with two cars of poultry. Near Cambridge, Pa., Monday night, Chester was slightly injured on the train. No particulars are given. But the injury was such that Chester was taken to a hospital for treatment and remained their until Pat went on to New York with the two cars of poultry and returned to Cambridge to accompany Chester home, their arrival being expected Saturday.

The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday August 4, 1910 Mrs. John MILLER of Valley Falls, died July 26th, 1910, of Bright's disease and was buried at the Catholic cemetery at Seneca on the 28th. The funeral services were held at Valley Falls, conducted by her Father Anthony, O.S.B. The remains were accompanied to Seneca by her husband, John Miller, a sister, Mrs. Wm. SHUPE, of Doniphan, Kas., JOhn BUSSE of St. Paul, Kas., and Father Anthony, Henry KOEHLER and Will STOCKHOFF of Valley Falls. Ella M. ROBLEY was born in Atchison, August 27th, 1872 and was taken by her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas ROBLEY of Seneca, when about 17 months old and had made her home with them until the time of her marriage to Mr. Miller which occurred Jan. 13, 1893. Mrs. Miller was known as an exceptionally good woman and was much loved by those who had assisted in taking care of her in her illnes, which was of five months duration, for her gentleness and patience, as was shown by the large attendeance at her huneral at both Valley Falls and Seneca. A Card. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas ROBLEY of Seweca, and Mrs. Shupe of Doniphan, Kansas, desire to express their thanks to the friends and neighbors who assisted in the illness and death of their niece, and sister, Mrs. John Miller, and especially the ladies of the Altar society of which she was a member. A Card. Mr. John Miller takes this means of expressing his thanks to the friends and neighbors who assisted in caring for his wife during her illness and death.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday August 4, 1910 Katharine Gray McCoy. Katharine GRAY, was born in Franklin, Co., Ohio, July 3rd, 1831; departed this life July 31st, 1910. Was married to James McCOY June 28th, 1849 in Ohio. Seven children were born to this union, four of which are still living, J.H. McCOY, Barber Ellen BROWN, F.M. and D.W. McCOY. Of grandchildren there are 18 and great-grandchildren, 21. They came to Kansas in the fall of 1868, locating on a farm east of Valley Falls, where they resided until about ten years ago, when they moved to Valley Falls. Her husband preceded her to the better world, April 19th, 1906. Mrs. McCoy joined the Methodist Episopal church in her youth, and lived a consistent Christian life up to the time of her death. She has been a great sufferer for the past three years, which she born with much patience. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother, a kind neighbor and will be missed, not only by immediate family, but by a large circle of friends. The funeral was held from the M.E. church Monday afternoon in the presence of many friends and neighbors, Rev. C.B. Zook of Topeka, her former pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. Beachamp, and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.

The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday August 4, 1910 Mr. Walter GRUBBS of Atchison, Kansas, and Miss Edna Florence CROW, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles CROW, were married at the home of the bride's parents, in this city, Monday afternoon, Rev. Lynderman Wright officiating. The bride is a most estimable young lady and for the past year has been employed in Mrs. Aughe's millinery store. The groom is a well known young man of Atchison, where he has always lived and for several years has been in the employ of the Missouri Pacific railroad. They left Monday afternoon for Atchison where they will make their home. Mrs. Grubbs' friends here extend congratulations to the happy couple.--Lebanon (Mo.) News.

KNOWLTON and daughter, Vesta, visited friends near Meriden Sunday. (Bolton.) Willie GRIFFITH left Tuesday for Winchester to visit his grandparents and he expects to be gone a week. (Bolton.) Mr. and Mrs. W.T. GRIFFITH and sons, George and Frank, spent Monday and Tuesday near Nortonville the guest of his brother, Bert and wife.

The Valley Falls New Era Thursday July 28, 1910 Carl WETTIG, who is staying with his grandma McNORTON at North Cedar, was driving home the cows when one of them surged against his foot, twisting it on the side of the pong he was riding and severely spraining his ankle. Dr. J.M. MARKS is attending the injury. Chas. KILE, who lives on the Robinson farm east of town had quite a fire scare Wednesday. The house caught fire, but was put out before a great amount of damage was done. Some bedclothes were burned. The fire was caused by a defective flue stop. Mrs. Al. GOODMAN, a former resident of Valley Falls, visited old griends here this week the guest of Mrs. Mell LEGLER. Her home for several years has been at Cody, Wyoming, but with her youngest sone, Walter, she expects to make her future home in Lincoln, where Walter will attend college.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday July 28, 1910 Died. Eda, the infant daughter of Mrs. Alice McCLACHERTY, died Tuesday night, aged 7 months and 17 days. The funeral was held at the home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Drake officiating at the services. The remains were laid to rest in the Rose Hill cemetery by the side of the fahter, W.H. McClacherty.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday July 28, 1910 Death of Mrs. John Miller. After an illness of five months suffering from Bright's disease and complications, Mrs. Ellen Mary, wife of John Miller on their farm west of Valley Falls, died Tuesday, July 26, 1910, aged 37 years, 11 months. During her long illnesss she did not go to bed. Her favorite seat was on the lounge. Ellen Mary ROBLY was born at Atchison, Kans., August 27, 1873, and January 13, 1894 was married to John Miller at Seneca, Kans., where she had lived since she was two years of age. No children were born to them. One year ago last March they located on their farm where she died. The funeral was held from the Catholic Church Thursday morning Father Anthony officiating at mass, and the remains were taken to Seneca for burial. Besides her husband she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Inez SHUPE of St. Joe, and Mrs. CUNNINGHAM of Portland, Oregon.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday July 28, 1910 Death of Mrs. Coy. Mrs. Maria COY, widow of H.A. Coy, formerly of Valley Falls, died at her home in San Diego, Cal., Saturday, July 23, 1910, after a lingering illness from blood poison, aged 55 years. Burial at San Diego, where she and her daughter, Lucy, Mrs. Chas. SWALLOW, went to live shortly after the death of her husband, Henry Coy, nineteen years ago. The only members of the family surviving are a brother, Eli EVANS, of Valley Falls, and a sister, Mrs. R. H. DIEBERT, of Oskaloosa.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Thursday July 28, 1910 New Century Changed Hands. The New Century Hotel changed hands Monday morning. Geo. W. REED, the landlord there for nearly three years and a half, sold his interests in the house, including Speed, the urbane porter, to W.A. McDANIELS, our "Billy." the druggist. Between the drug store and the hotel Billy will be a busy man, and supported by experience assistants, hopes to maintain a popular home for the traveling public. It is a house of forty good rooms and one of the best hotel propositions in northeastern Kansas. We with the new management success. Ed. DAVIS has accepted a position in the drug store, and will study pharmacy. For the present, Mr. and Mrs. Reed will remain in the city and may locate here permanently.

The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday July 28, 1910 Abraham HOSLER, at one time a familiar figure on our streets, died July 14, 1910 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John GRAHAM in Thomas county, Kansas, aged 92 years and 6 months. He had been married four times and was the father of twenty children and had 102 grandchildren. Interment was made in Valley Falls the first of last week.

The ceremony was preformed by Rev. H.A. Stone at his home. The bride is a music teacher and has resided for several years at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.R. BLACKBURN of Enid.
