The McLouth Times Jefferson County Friday August 5, 1949 Roy RIDDLE who at one time lived on the Sanders farm in Big Stranger, died at the Cushing hospital Friday after two days illness at the age of 64. He leaves a widow, three daughters, four sons. Funearl services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Easton. The burial was also at Easton.

The McLouth Times Friday August 5, 1949 Mr. and Mrs. FLORA and children of Pamona, Calif., have been visiting in this neighborhood for the past two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl WINKLER and brothers and sisters. Little Miss Sharon LARISON, daugher of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Larison burned herself when she fell on a kettle of hot tomatoes at her home Monday morning. The engergetic youngster was back at play in a short time the same morning, after medicine was applied to the burn. Miss Ednamae DICK, Kansas City, arrived Saturday evening at the home of her father, Mr. A.M. DICK, and returned Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur EMDONDS and Mr. and Mrs. Walter WYATT, Kansas City, drove to McLouth Sunday afternoon and were accompanied by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milt EDMONDS who arrived in Kansas City, Saturday evening from Texarkana, Ark., and were over night and dinner guests. The Edmonds and Wyatts spent the afternoon and evening and returned to Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. Syl WHITE, Mr. and Mrs. Paul WHITE and Pauline, Mr. and Mrs. Frank LOBB, all of McLouth; Mr. and Mrs. Harold CHAMPION, Joann and Marilyn Champion, Tonganoxie; Mr. and Mrs. Bill HANNAH and son, Oskaloosa; all went to Topeka Sunday and were joined by Mr. and Mr. Roger SIMON and son at a family get-to-gether and dinner at Gage Park. They all spent the afternoon at the Simon home where they enjoyed watermelon and a very pleasant afternoon.

Mrs. Roy LOBB and Mrs. Frank BLACK were guests at the Harry WELLMAN home Friday afternoon. Mr. Perry SHRADER accompanied by Miss Eunice KIMMEL, both of Kansas City, Mo., arrived Saturday and he was a guest of his mother, Mrs. J.W. SHRADER and she was a guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.H. KIMMEL. They returned Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Guy B. PRICE, Kansas City, were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. C.G. SANDERS.

    3. The McLouth Times Jefferson County Friday July 22, 1949 Dr. Frank Schaeffer Dies. >From the Oskaloosa Independent.) Funeral services for Dr. Frank SCHAEFFER, of McLouth, were held yesterday afternoon at the McLouth E.U.B. church. He died Tuesday at Winter Veteran's hospital, where he had been a patient since December 1946. He was 67 years of age, had practiced medicine at McLouth since 1915, until illness forced his retirement 2 1/2 years ago. Born at Oskaloosa, he attended the Oskaloosa schools, and graduated from the University of Kansas school of medicine in 1903. Practiced at Ozawkie 12 years. His military service was with the marine corps in first world war, with rank of major. "Schaef," as most everyone knew him, was a brillant student in his chosen field, well posted in many other fields; he served a wide territory professionally, for some years as the only physician residing at McLouth. His wife, several years deceased was the former Irene STEEPER. Their daughter, Mrs. Ruth JACKSON, of Lawrence, survives, together with the latter's daughter, Kathryn WARNER, two sisters, Mrs. Mary VANN of Tulsa; Mrs. Margaret KEERS, of Cedaredge, Colo., a brother, Paul of Berkeley, Calif.

    3. The McLouth Times Friday July 22, 1949 Miss Lena TROWER of Kansas City and Miss Verna PALMER of Manford, Oklahoma, were guests of their cousin, Alvin MEANS, last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. HESSE and their two daughters and a friend from Bartlesville, Okla. are sub renting the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milt EDMONDS, while they are away arriving Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Milt EDMONDS are visiting his brother, Mr. Roy EDMONDS and wife, Texarkanna, Ark. Leaving for that place last Wednesday.

    3. The McLouth Times Jefferson County Friday July 15, 1949 Elizabeth Harker CAREY, daughter of William and Ida HARKER, was born the seventh day of March 1892, at McLouth, Kansas. She passed to her Eternal reward the first day of July, 1949, at the home, 4135 Campbell Street, Kansas City, Missouri. She spent her early years at McLouth. She was united in marriage with Orville R. Carey the tenth day of April, 1912. To this union two children were born, Harley E. Carey and Robert E. Carey. The family formerly lived at McLouth, Kansas but have resided in Kansas City for the last several years. Mrs. Carey was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Chruch, having become a member when a young girl. She was a member of the Alcione Chapter, No. 266, of the Order of Eastern Star, McLouth, Kansas. She was woman of rare charm and of great endurane and patience. She suffered instensley but bore it with Christian patience and hope. She was very appreciative of ministry in the home and enjoyed the fellowship of Christian people. She had a great faith in God and believed in the help and strength and grace that we receive from him. She has, we believe, gone to be with the Lord. Her spirit has been sanctified by suffering and her sould has returned to the Lord who gave it. "The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord." Let us therefore come boldly unto a throne of Grace that we may obtain grace and deliverence for this hour. Her body is now at rest and awaits the final summons of Him who is the Resurrectoin and the Life and who is able to bring his loved ones home to the place of many mansions. Grace and peace unto the husband, sons, grandchildren, sisters, brother, nieces, nephews, and all who mourn through Jesus Christ, our Lord. She is survived by her husband, Orville R. Carey of the home, two sons, Harley E. and Robert E. of Independence, Missouri; two grandsons, Raymond E. Carey and Michael R. Carey; two sisters, Mrs. May DICK of Long Beach, California, and Mrs. Katherine SHERMAN of Olathe, Kansas, and one brother Harry HARKER of McLouth, Kansas and several neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Samuel and Jesse Harker.

On their return they were accompanied by Marion and Larry Bogle. Mr. and Mrs. Milt EDMONDS left Friday evening for Leavenworth to visit at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Carl HALL and family, where they were honored on Father's Day. Near the noon hour relatives of both Mr. and Mrs. Shrader, arrived with well-filled baskets of food. The group spent the afternoon visiting in the shade of the stately old elm trees.     3. The McLouth Times Jefferson County Friday June 15, 1949 The funeral of Mrs. Josephine D. FRAZIER, daughter of Mr. W.P. MOORE and the late Mrs. Moore, who passed away Friday was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Shawnee, Kansas, at the E. Paul Amos Funeral Home. Services were conducted by Rev. Louis E. Meyer. Burial in the Shawnee Cemetery. Nephews chosen as pall bearers were, Thurman and Elmer Dean MOORE, James and Richard KIMMEL, Curtis STEWART, and Robert PETRIE. Relatives attending the funeral from McLouth were: Mr. and Mrs. Leslie KIMMEL and sons, James and Richard Kimmel, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank MOORE. >From near Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. Charles PETRIE and son Robert, and Mrs. and Mrs. Charles STEWART and son Curtis.

    3. The McLouth Times Jefferson County Friday June 10, 1949 Lincoln Henry Edmonds. Lincoln Henry EDMONDS, son of Mable and the late Earl Edmonds, was born May 9, 1920, at McLouth, Kansas and departed this life, May 21, 1949. He was educated in the McLouth Public Schools and graduated from high school in 1938. He was affliated with the Baptist Church at an early age. On November 2, 1940, he was united in marriage with Miss June THOMPSON of McLouth. To this union was born one child, Phyllis June, of the home. Following his marriage, he engaged in farming on the Dave Edmonds farm near McLouth and was regarded as highly successful by his friends and neighbors. In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survive dby his mother, Mrs. Mable Edmonds of Topeka; two brothers, Arnold Edmonds of Hershey, Penn., and Maurice Edmonds of Sunflower, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte HAMILTON of Independence, Mo., and Miss Joyce Edmonds of Topeka, Kansas. He is mourned by a host of relatives and friends. The funeral was held Wednesday, May 25th, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at two o'clock. Rev. Ira N.H. Brammell of McPherson, Kansas, conducted the fuenral and the music was furnished by Mrs. Hobart Herries and Mr. Eric Steeper, who sang,"In the Garden" and "Ivory Palaces" accompanied by Mrs. Walter Bradford. The burial was at the McLouth Cemetery. The many beautiful floral pieces and large attendence at the services, bore mute testimony to the affection the community felt for the deceased. Among the out-of-town relatives attending the funeral, were: Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Edmonds, Sunflower, Kansas; Miss Mable Edmonds, and Miss Joyce Edmonds, Topeka, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hamilton, Independence, Mo.; Mr. George Laphan, Mr. Floyd Laphgan, Mr. and Mrs. Clancey Laphan, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Schrader, Miss ???? Kimmel, Mrs. Ham???, Mrs. Ken RANKIN, all of Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. ??? Edmonds, Mr. and Mrs. Robert White, Mr. and Mrs. Plin White, all of Lawrence, Kansas; and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Champion, of Tongonoxie, Kas. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have helped, sent flowers, food and expressions of sympathy during the illness and death of dear son and brother.     3. The Perry Mirror Jefferson County Thursday November 20, 1941 Joseph INGENTHRON, 81, of Topeka died in a hospital there Sunday. He was born in Russia and came to the United States 65 years ago. He was a retired farmer and moved to Topeka in 1910. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lena Ingenthron, of the home; five sons, John Ingenthron of Grantville, Albert Ingenthron of St. Marys, Joseph, R.B. and Lawrence Ingenthron of Topeka; three daughters, Mrs. Frank RENYER of Berryton, Mrs. John BAUM and Mrs. Nicholas BAUM, of Topeka; 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Toepka with burial in Mot. Calvary cemetery.
