During the past week the judge issued marriage licenses to the following couples: Alezander KERR and Sarah AULT, both of Valley Falls. Ray PATTERSON and Laura Van CLEAVE, both of Oskaloosa. W.F BANER, of Arkansas and Flora B. BUTNER, of Valley Falls. F.P. SIMMONS, of Medina, and Etta GRINTER, of Perry. Thos. Hand, of Ozawkie was adjudged of unsound mind and order to the asylum. Jas. F. LANSDOWN filed his final settlement as guardian of Turner S. LANSDOWN. Mary N. CHURCH has filed a petition to be appointed administratorix of the estate of Wm. Church, deceased.
The Oskaloosa Times Friday June 23, 1899 Bulah WILSON, Trenton, Mo., came last week to spend the summer with her father. Uncle John ROYER had business at McLouth Saturday.(Ozawkie.) Frank NEAL, of Muscotah, was her on business last week. (Ozawkie.) Bird SHRADER and wife, of McLouth Sundayed where with friends. (Ozawkie.) John JOHNSON left Sunday for Kansas City where he expects to get employment. (Ozawkie.) Bert NEAL carries his arm in a sling, the result of some one playfully tripping his foot, causing him to fall, breaking several bonds in his right hand. (Ozawkie.)
The Oskaloosa Times Friday June 23, 1899 Leech's Home Burns. About 10 o'clock last night the peace and quiet of our slumbering city was disturbed by the dread cry of fire! and then the fire bell began to ring. The fire was in the kitchen and rear portion of W.F. LEECH's residence, in the northwest part of town. The fire company and almost every other man and woman in town, answered the bell and they soon had the fire under control. Several feats of exceptional bravery were performed by members of the fire department and the citizens' who assisted them. The house is almost a complete loss. It was partly covered by insurance.

The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday June 23, 1899 Robert BUTLER, a prominent farmer eight miles south of town, died at his home Wednesday night, of dropsy. He was brought here to be buried.

The McLouth Times Jefferson County Friday October 6, 1950 Dora Piper Underwood. Dora Piper UNDERWOOD was born December 17, 1868, near Staunton, Illinois, and departed in the Joplin Nursing Home at McLouth, Kansas, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and two days. She was united in marriage to Charles Underwood at Dunavant, Kansas on August 16, 1903. To this union was born three children; Beatrice, who preceded her in death in 1929; James A. of Rock Creek, and Mrs. Dorothy HILDEBRAND of El Dorado, Kansas. She accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 16. She united with the Christian church at Valley Falls in 1914 and was faithful in her attendance and other activities of the Church as long as her health premitted. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be sadly missed by those who knew her best.
