June 1913. Clara died in Burbank, California in 1964 according to an internet posting. She had been married to Harry E. Collins but was not with him in the 1930 census. She was listed as single. I don't know if her name would be Clara Collins or Clara Metzger or some other remarried name. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help. 1. [KSJEFFER] Clara Metzger
    2. The Jefferson County Gen Soc's book, "Tombstone Inscriptions, Jefferson County, Kansas, 1854-1986" ( worth every penny it cost me) has one Clara Metzger: Metzger, Clara, RHNM It gives no dates, no parents, no spouse. RHNM is the abbreviation for Rose Hill Newman Cemetery. I don't know if she is your Clara or not. I do find a couple of fellows named John Metzger. The one who sounds closest to your Clara's father, however, doesn't match your death date of 1950. The tombstone inscription book lists him as b 1851, d 18 Aug 1920. MRDN Cem. The other guy is a John Metzger who died 30 Jan 1867, age 68y 11m 27d. PLHL. There is a third John, this one John Howard Metzger 1900-1930, s/Mr & Mrs E D Metzger, h/Lilly Myers, OZWK. I didn't figure he was yours. And of course there is a "Mrs John Metzger," who died 10 Oct 1868, age 70y 9 m 4d, PLHL. I presume she belongs to the John Metzger at PLHL. I found several Mary Metzgers (Mary E (Hurley), Mary J (Sales), Mary Theresa (Abbott), but I guessed none of them were yours. As you can imagine, there are many Mary Smiths, probably close to 20, but none of them sounded like she was a Metzger first. There's even a Mary E J Lowry (1885-1942) FRVF. I didn't find your Clara nor Harry E amongst the Collinses. I also checked the Jeffco Gen Soc's marriage book (another bargain worth owning!) but didn't find Harry Collins listed, just a "Jona Harry Collins," 21, of Perry, who married a Boucher in 1898. I did find a wedding for John Metzger, 24 (no residence given), who married Emma Lowry, 18 (no residence given), married January 28, 1875, at the ofc of Jules L Williams, probate judge, "by the same." I didn't find the marriage for Emma to Smith. I hope this helps. Happy hunting. Jan T ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
