    3. The Oskaloosa Times Friday June 1, 1900 Judge Dick's Court. During the week Judge Dick issued two licenses and performed the ceremony, the first at his office and the other at the Addison: John C. RAY, of Mayetta, and Cora Belle SINGLETON, of Straight Creek. A. P. ZORB and Peal SKIDMORE, both of Ozawkie. The will of John YOUNG, deceased, was admitted to probate on the 30th. The Judge is becoming an expert as a coin tosser, and he, the district clerk, deputy sheriff and the deputy treaurer are contemplating organizing a league for the advancement of the game.     3. The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday May 25, 1900 Jake Faubion Passes Away. "Uncle Jake Faubion is dead." These are the words that were carried from lip to lip in Oskaloosa Monday. Everybody in this part of the country knew Mr. Faubion as he was a pioneer citizen having lived in Jefferson county nearly 50 years. Many knew him ony as "Uncle Jakey" He had been in poor health for a number of years and while his death was somewhat sudden it was not unexpected. He was afflicted with dropsy and that was the immediate cause of his death. He had reached the extreme old age of 80 years. Mr. Faubion was trusted and respected by everybody in the community. He was engaged in the cattle herding business during the early days. He leaves a wife and a son, who have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement. He died Monday morning about 10 o'clock and his remains were interred in Plumb Grove cemetery Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Brummett officiated at the services. The funeral was largely attended.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday March 12, 1968 Leroy Jolliffe Of Oskaloosa Dies In Home. Oskaloosa.--Leroy JOLLIFFE, 83, died in his home in Oskaloosa, Monday. Mr. Jolliffe was born Nov. 29, 1884, in Edina, Mo. He was a retired farmer. He had lived in the Oskaloosa community since 1921, and was a member of the Methodist Church in Edina, Mo. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alpha Jolliffe, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy DESSINGER, Oskaloosa; four sons, Thomas Jolliffe, Brooks, W.Va., Dempsey Jolliffe, Keytsville, Mo., Jack Jolliffe, and Wayne Jolliffe, both of San Francis; two sisters, Mrs. Eva KARIS, North Platte, Neb., and Mrs. Minnie TEEPLE, Dora, Mo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Baptist Church in Oskaloosa, with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Hampton Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, is in charge of arrangements.

The groom is quite a wealthy hotel keeper, of Perkins, and the bride is one of Jefferson county's estimable young ladies. They left Tuesday for their new home in Oklahoma.     3. The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday May 4, 1900 Mrs. Riley HATCHER died Tuesday morning, and was buried at Ozawkie, Wednesday. Funeral services were held at the U.B. church, Rev. McAftery delivering the funeral sermon. Deceased leaves a husband and three children to mourn the loss of a kind mother and dutiful wife.

    3. The Oskaloosa Times Friday May 4, 1900 25 Years For Kirby. Thos. C. KIRBY, who was convicted about a month ago of the murder of Agent FOLEY, of the U.P. road, at Perry, was sentenced by Judge Gephart yesterday morning to serve a term of 25 years at hard labor in the penitentiary. His attorneys gave notice of an appeal to the higher courts for a new trial, but it is not expected that the appeal will be granted as the evidence is too strong against Kirby. Special attention will be paid to the jail durnign the next week to see that there is no delivery. The prisoner will be removed to Lansing next week. Nearly everyone sympathises with Mrs. Kirby and her children, but few feel sorry for Kirby as the evidence was so strong against him.
