    3. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday August 27, 1914 Drowned While Swimming. Earl NEIHART of Holton, 30 years old, was drowned while swimming in the Deleware river at Arrington, Sunday. He was with a party of friends. The body was recovered with grappling hooks after being in the water an hour and a half. The party wished to cross the river and at this place it was fifteen feet deep. All but Neihart said they could not swim and would go farther down and cross. Neihart said he could swim it and jumped in. On coming up he yelled once for help and sank when near the opposite shore before they could come to his assistance. He leaves a wife and two small children. He lost his mother and a sister in the Omaho tornado.
