The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday January 28, 1915 House Burned. Ed. FREEMAN's house caught fire last Wednesday morning at about four o'clock from a defective flue and burned to the ground. Ed was awakened by the smell of smoke and saved only a few trunks of clothing as the fire had gained such headway. The house which is nearly new, belonged to an Indian, Ed having the farm leased. He carried some insurance on the furniture and also on the house as it is specified in the lease. He has a five year improvement lease having lived on the farm three years. The house will be rebuilt at once. He is staying at Glick WYATT's at present. Ed was living alone in the house, his sons being with their grandparents in Missouri.
