The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday May 13, 1915 John Slattery, Sr. Jno. SLATTERY, Sr., died at his home south of Mayetta, Sunday morning at 10:00 o'clock. He has been in poor health all winter. He was over 84 years of age. Mr. Slattery was one of the pioneers of this county. Born in Tipperary county, Ireland, September 15, 1830. He came to America when fourteen years of age, first living in Pennsylvania, then in town, where he was married. Later he moved to Doniphan county, Kas. In the spring of 1184 he moved to his late home in Jackson county. One daughter, Mrs. Geo. McGINNNIS, and five sons, James. Neal, John, William and Edward, were born to this union. ALl survive the deceased but Neal, who died in the year 1913. Funeral services were conducted from the Catholic church at Hoyt, Tuesday, May 11 at 10 o'clock. The Rev. F. A. Genitz officiating.
