The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday April 21, 1966 S. Carder, 83, Dies in Topeka After Illness. Samuel Jess CARDER, 83, died Tuesday after a two month's illness in a Topeka hospital. Mr. Carder had lived at Whiting before moving to Beloit 20 years ago. He was born Nov. 24, 1882, at Whiting and was a member of the Beloit Presbyterian Church. Mr. Carder was a carpenter and farmer. Survivors include his wife, Elva, of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Edith WOODWARD, 1108 Kellam, Mrs. Mabel BOWLIN, Mrs. Velma CALLISON and Mrs. Jessie McVICKER, all of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mrs. Imogene KELLY, Kansas City, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and one brother, James Carder, Holton. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton with burial in the Whiting Cemetery.
