    3. The Hoyt Sentinel Jackson County Saturday May 20, 1902 A freight engine got "stalled" in the yards here Thursday afternoon. It was pulling at the time three disabled engines and their tenders and a number of flat cars. In some manner one dead engine and three or four cars became loose and ran backwards down the incline towards the passenger train, which was stopped a short distance below awaiting right of way, Ralph ELLIOTT and T.S. TOMLINSON two of our citizens, jumped on to the escaping cars and applied the brakes, and brought them to a stand-still preventing a disaster.
