The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday December 26, 1917 Pilander GRINNELL, was born in Massachuetts, Feb. 26, 1829, and died in Mayetta, Kansas, Dec. 21, 1917, aged 88 years, 9 months, and 26 days. He was married to Anna RICE, five children being born to this union--Mary KONKOSKIE, Eliza, Frank, Ona and Maude GRINNELL, the latter dying in infancy. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 o'clock at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. A.L. Plowman. The music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mesdames S.S. Jones, and Olive Slattery and Messrs. J.W. Watkins and T.J. Landon, Miss Aldene Lewis at the piano. A large number of friends attended the funeral. Grandpa Grinnell was a kind, uncomplaining, cheerful, Christian gentleman and attended Sunday school and church services whenever he was able.
