Geiger (Gieger) around 1858 in Pennsylvania. It is believed Joseph was born in Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County PA in 1836. He died May 25, 1895. Sarah was born January 26, 1841 and died April 4, 1916. They migrated to Kansas in 1878 to Wilson KS. They moved to Greeley County KS and homesteaded a "timber culture according to the Act to encourage the growth of timber on the western prairies" in 1890. Sarah's parents were Henry and Bell (McHenry) Geiger (Gieger). Sarah died in Shawnee County KS and I think Joseph died in Jackson County KS. Both Joseph and Sarah are buried in Holton KS. They had 7 children, one being Albert Smith Hunter (my grandfather) born in Westmoreland November 9, 1861 and died in Ellsworth County KS June 11, 1929. Joseph had a brother, Alex W. who is also buried in the Holton KS cemetery. Any suggestions where to search for Joseph's and Sarah's ancestors in PA? Any Kansas information would also be appreciated.
