Joseph Graham Hunter married Sarah (Sallie) A. Giegor (Geiger) in 1842. They were both born in Westmoreland County PA. Joseph was born 1836 or 1838 and died May 25, 1895. Sarah was born January 26, 1841 and died April 4, 1916. They migrated to Kansas in 1878, most likely in Wilson KS. They moved to Tribune (Greeley County) or Mell KS and homesteaded a "timber culture according to the Act to encourage the growth of timber on the western prairies." Sarah supposedly moved to Holton after Joseph's death in 1895. Has anyone heard of or know anything about Mell KS? Sarah died in Shawnee County KS. I am trying to verify both are buried in Holton KS. They had 7 children, one being Albert Smith Hunter (my grandfather) born in Westmoreland September 11, 1861 and died in Ellsworth County KS November 6, 1883. I am planning a trip to Holton this summer to visit the cemetery and try to track down these elusive ancestors. Any information or suggestions appreciated.
