    3. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday February 25, 1915 Mrs. Douglas GRAHAM, wife of D.A. Graham, clerk of the court of Topeka, has been in a serious condition for the last several days, due to a fall from the steps of the porch of the Graham residence. A bone in Mrs. Graham's spine was broken by the fall which occurred a week ago. Physicians believe that an operation may be necessary.--Topeka Journal.

She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hale who live on the reservation. Chas. is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Bunch of Mayetta.

Fred WATERS informs us that as soon as the roads get smooth he wills start a jitney car between Bishwille and Mayetta. R.L. MILLER shipped several cars of steers last week which he will feed silage. These steers are heavier than the fat ones shipped out the previous week.

    3. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday February 4, 1915 Boyles--Slattery. Miss Olive BOYLES and Cornelius SLATTERY were married Thursday, January 28, by Father Gientz, of the Catholic church in Holton. They went immediately to Topeka where they visited until Friday evening, returning to the groom's father, Jas. Slattery, at Mayetta. They will live on the Slattery old home farm south of Mayetta. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mel Boyles and was reared on their farm near Denison, moving to a farm near Mayetta about three years ago. The groom is the oldest son of James Slattery and is known by everybody who has visited Mayetta only a few time. . He clerked for his father's hardware store for several years being on the road for the International Harvester Company last year. We wish the couple success in their married life. Connie Slattery and bride wer charivaried, Friday night at the James Slattery home. They did not show up very soon after the noise began but the boys wer persistent and with the aid of guns, horns, bell and any instrument of noise brought them out in due time. He treated them to everything they wished at the Moore restaurant.

    3. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday February 4, 1915 Mrs. Mary Bushman, an Indian woman died Sunday at Chas. KEESIS on the reservation. The body was buried in the Mayetta cemetery. She is one of the Indians who has drawn all her money. She came here from Wisconsin.

    3. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday January 28, 1915 House Burned. Ed. FREEMAN's house caught fire last Wednesday morning at about four o'clock from a defective flue and burned to the ground. Ed was awakened by the smell of smoke and saved only a few trunks of clothing as the fire had gained such headway. The house which is nearly new, belonged to an Indian, Ed having the farm leased. He carried some insurance on the furniture and also on the house as it is specified in the lease. He has a five year improvement lease having lived on the farm three years. The house will be rebuilt at once. He is staying at Glick WYATT's at present. Ed was living alone in the house, his sons being with their grandparents in Missouri.

    3. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday January 28, 1915 Blacksmith Shop Sold. W.McMURRAY traded a tract of land near Larkinburg to H.B. PAGE for the tools and stock in his blacksmith. Mr. McMurray sold the shop to Fred WATERS who has moved everything to his farm where he will use the tools and material to good advantage in his shop there. Mayetta is now left with only two shops.

    3. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday January 28, 1915 Mrs. C.B. COAKLEY, formerly of Mayetta, who had a paralytic stroke in Representative Hall, January 11, died at her home at 929 Jefferson St., Topeka, Kansas at 2 a.m. Monday, January 25. Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church, Horton, Kansas, Wednesday morning, January 27.

    3. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday January 28,1915 Grandpa Foster Dead. Isaac FOSTER, better known as "Dad" Foster, died at the county farm January 18. He was 70 years old. He has been at the county farm five years. Only one relative, Chas. MORGAN, nephew, survive him. He was a familiar character in Mayetta, being employed by the Lunger's for many years. He was never blessed at any time with much of this world's goods.

    3. The Mayetta Herald Thursday January 28, 1915 Mrs. Jas. SLATTERY and Jospehine Slattery went to Topeka, Friday to visit the latter's mother, Mrs. Minnie Slattery, who is employed by the State House, and to see Mrs. COAKLEY, who is still in a critical condition from a paralytic stroke. Clyde MILLER of the 101 Ranch of Bliss, Okla., is in Mayetta for two weeks taking a degree in the Masonic Lodge.

The Mayetta Herald Thursday January 21, 1915 Bridget HANNA called at Sam BLANDIN Wednesday evening.(Blandin) Last Wednesday being Miss Marie FRAZIER's fourteenth birthday, a number of her friends, schoolmates and teacher gathered at her home and spent the evening playing games. After a nice lunch they departed for their home wishing Miss Marie many more happy birthdays. She received several nice presents. (Elm Creek.)

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday January 25, 1966 William W. Walton. Holton.--Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home here for William Wirt WALTON, 86, Holton, who died Sunday in a hospital here after a long illness. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery. He was born May 24, 1879 at Holton and spent most of his life in the Holton community. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a retired farm. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle TAYLOR, Holton; two sons, Raymond Walton, Tonasket, Wash., and Marion Walton, Pueblo, Colo.; grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
