    1. [KSJACKSO] Married On Tick
    2. Jim Laird
    3. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday July 15, 1915 >From the Wathena Times. Married on Tick. How much capital ought a young man to have before getting married? Most people will agree that he at least ought to have enough to pay for the license and having the knot tied. A Missouri couple were married in Troy by Probate Judge Edwin Brown, the other day, and he had just $3.50. He was careful not to make a financial statement until the ceremony was performed, when he stood the judge off for all but $3 license fee that goes to the county. How they expected to have a wedding trip home for two on less than the railroad fare for one is a problem. He was sized up as a drinker and cigarette fiend. She was little, pimpled-faced bride, who kept ticking the groom under the chin and behaved so unbecomingly that the judge halted the ceremony and said he would go no farther unless they could improve their manners.
