    3. One of my Jackson County families is Isaac SPENCER, wife Sarah Jane BANKS SHELLENBERGER and children. They arrived in Strait Creek Township sometime between 1875 and the 1880 census. Their home before coming to Kansas was in Buckheart Township, Fulton County, Illinois. Another of my Jackson County families is Jacob Washington Hussey PARROTT, wife Margaret STAPLETON and children. They arrived in Whiting Township sometime between 1877 and the 1880 census. Their home before coming to Kansas was in Jasper Township, Fayette Co., Ohio. I would be happy to discuss ancestors and descendants of any of these names. I'd like to get a little flavor of the times and find people that my family mingled with. Amy - [email protected]

    1. [KSJACKSO-L] Heckman/Richardson
    2. Samuel Newton Heckman b. 2/25/1873; d. 6/4/1928, son of Daniel & Katherine Green Heckman, married Mary "Mollie" Richardson b. 8/16/1868; d. 10/27/1935 in Holton, Kansas. Samuel & Mollie had a daughter named Eva, b. 12/4/1899; d. 10/1980. Eva was married to Harold Oden. I think that Mollie's parents were William H. & Elizabeth Over Richardson. Mollie had at least one brother named Aaron. Harold Oden's parents were Hugh & Minerva Latimer Oden, and Hugh's parents were John W. & Rebecca Conrad Oden. I have found some of the Oden's buried in various cemeteries in Jackson Co., Kansas. Looking to confirm Mollie's parents, any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Marilyn Harvey

    3. I have made some contacts with people who are researching the same family as me in Jackson Co (the Batemans), but am not sure if it was thru' this list or by checking out the county home page--I'd advise you try the site and the archives from this list to see if anyone is looking for the same names as you. However, to add another query to the list, I am searching for the family of Charles Bateman, born Ireland, family emigrated to New Brunswick when Charles was very small, his younger sister Mary (my grt grt grandmother) was born there in 1820. Charles, his wife Sarah Bateman and several children were in Ontario for the 1851 census and sometime between then and the next census (1871) moved to Holton, Kansas. I have been able to get copies of cemetery records for several of these. Other members of the Bateman family also settled there. I would be interested in contacting any other descendants of the Bateman families. In addition to NB and Ontario, there were related Batemans in Coshocton Co. Ohio, California and Oregon.
