The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday January 14,1915 The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett MARTIN was laid to rest in the Coleman cemetery, Sunday.
The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday January 7, 1915 Albert H. ELLIOTT was born February 6, 1853 in Morroca, Jasper county, Indiana, and died at Birmingham, Alabama, December 19, 1914, at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 13 days, from injuries received by being struck by a train in the railroad yards. He came to Kansas with his parents in 1855, settling in Jackson county, where he lived the greater part of his life. He was a graduate of the Emporia State Normal. Mr. Elliott erected the first building in Mayetta in which he opened a general store that he conducted for several years. The last years of his life were spent in Pensacola, Florida. Mr. Elliott was a member of the M.E. church. He is survived by four brothers, Drs. Frank and Phillip S. of Kansas City, Mo., George F. Mayetta, and Sherman G. of Lawrence. The body was brought to Holton Sunday and burial was made in the family lot in the Holton cemetery. The services were conducted by Dr. Waldron of the Methodist church. The Dynamo quartet furnished the music.

McCARTY, of Indiahoma, Okla., Monday evening, Dec. 23, 1914, at 7:30, when Miss Gladys COX, formerly of Mayetta, Kan., and Mr. Roy HAWKINS, of Indiahoma, was united in marriage by Rev. Denny, pastor of the M.E. church. Mrs. Hawkins is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. COX, of Hoyt. Mr. Hawkins is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hawkins of Indiahoma. They are staying at the home of Mr. Hawkins at present.
The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday December 31, 1914 Crouse--Frazier. A quiet wedding occured at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pointer, 317 Lawrence St., Topeka, Kansas, on Wednesday, December 23, at 9:15 p.m, when Miss Nellie CROUSE of Great Bend, Kans., was united in marriage to Mr. Roy FRAZIER of Mayetta, Kans. Miss Agnes Jacobson was maid of honor. The bride wore a king's blue dress. A simple but very good wedding supper was served immediately after the ceremony that was performed by Rev. Rhoboe, pastor of the Second United Brethren church of Topeka. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. P. Jacobson and children, Mr. and Mrs. Murl Frazier.
The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday December 31, 1914 Winters--Gooderl. A wedding occurred at the Methodist parsonage in Denison, Kan., Sunday, December 27, at 6:30 o'clock, that united Miss Ruth Anna WINTERS and Mr. Ray S. GOODERL as husband and wife. The couple was unattended. Rev. O. G. Mitchell made the sacredbonds that make them life companions. A bountiful wedding dinner was served at the brides' home Sunday after the wedding. Mrs. Gooerl is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Winters, of Birmingham. Mr. Gooderl is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Gooderl. They are staying at the home of the bride's parents at present. Ray being employed in his brother-in-law's store in Birmingham.
The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday December 31, 1914 The seven month old child of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde TORK, died of measles and pneumonia Tuesday, Dec. 22. The funeral was held at the house Thursday and burial was in the Mayetta cemetery. The bereaved parents have the heart felf sympathy of all. (Front Page) Page 3. Ethel Marie Tork, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Tork, was born May 16, 1914, and passed through the valley to be a little angel in God's land on December 22, at nine o'clock, being 7 months, and 7 days old. She was only sick a week but everything was done to ease her but all in vain, God knew best. The funeral was held at the home December 24, at one o'clock in charge of Rev. A.L. Plowman, pastor of the Mission church. She leaves to mourn her loss, father, mother, sister Florence, besides other relatives. Misses Mary Sumpter and Ailleen Lewis sang, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and "Saved by Grace," after which the little body was tenderly laid to away at the Stanley grave yard unter a beautiful lot of flowers. Pall-bearers were Daisy Laird, Cathren Laird, Esther Jensen and Hazel Haag.

The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday December 17, 1914 Thomas Harold WATERS, the seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. T.P. Waters, died Saturday morning at about eleven o'clock from membraneous croup. He had had a cold for several days and took worse Saturday morning. A doctor was summoned but the boy died before he arrived. The funeral was held at the house Sunday at 11:00 o'clock. Rev. Plowman of the Mission church officiating. The body was laid to away in the Brick cemetery, as the cold blustry wind blew, being almost beyond human endurance.

Miss Bridget M. HANNA accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. P.F. LOUGHMILLER, Lulla(Luila?) and Russel Loughmiller autoed to Kewanka to Literary Wednesday evening.
The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday December 10, 1914 Died December 4, 1914, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.L. AKERS, James Evart Akers, who was bonr March 30, 1891, having attained the age of 23 years, 8 months, and 4 days. He had been in poor health for more than four months, being a patient and brave sufferer, thereby putting up a good fight for life. Having such a bright future before him, we cannot understand why one so young should be taken from us, but we must resign ourselves, as did our Saviour, when He said, "Nevertheless, not what I will but what thou wilt." To thoroughly appreciate his sterling worth, one must be intimately acquainted with him, for he had many noble traits of character. The funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Mayetta, being conducted by Bro. Duncan MacFarlane, of Holton. The Dynamo quartette consisting of Chas. Bruner, E.D. Woodburn, Floyd Townsley and Duncan MacFarlane, had charge of the music. The pallbearers were his most intimate friends, Noah Herde, Russel Gooderl, Frank Richards, Clarence Stadel, Clay Murray and Fred Richards. Interment in the Mayetta cemetery. J.M. Goheen was the funeral director. Card of Thanks. We wish to thank our many friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and death of our beloved son and brother. The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday December 3, 1914 Charles Smith WATERS was born in Morrow county, Ohio, June 9, 1850, and died November 24, 1914, age 64 years, 5 months and 15 days. On October 28, 1867, he was married to Martha MIDKELF. To this union was born nine children, four boys and five girls, one boy and two girls having gone on to the better world. He and his family moved to Oklahoma 26 years ago this fall. Being in poor health he came to his son's near Mayetta, thinking he would regain his health, but he grew worse and died at his brother-in-law's, D.W. JOHNSON's. He was converted and joined the Christian church at Carney, Okla., of which he was a member at the time of his death.

The Topeka Daily Capital Monday January 24, 1966 Frank Ingels Of Holton Dies at 55. Frank Charles INGELS, 55, Holton, was dead on arrival at a Topeka hospital Sunday after he suffered a heart attack while attending an auction in South Topeka. He was born May 13, 1910, at Netawaka, and had lived at Holton since 1941. He operated a retail produce station at Holton and operated a farm on the north edge of Holton. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emeline Ingels, of the home; two sons, Marvin Ingels, 3572 Mayo, and Kenneth Charles Ingels, Garden City; two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Louise CATTRELL, Nortonville, and Mrs. Joyce Maxine PARRET, 228 Woodland; his mother, Mrs. Maude Ingels, Whiting; two sisters, Mrs. Edith SCHUMANN, Wetmore, and Mrs. Leone ARMSTRONG, Horton; two brothers, Clarence Ingels, St. Joseph, Mo., and Marvin A. Ingels, Whiting; and six grandchildren. Mercer Funeral Home at Holton is in charge of arrangements.

The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday November 26, 1914 Grandpa Cooney Passes Away. Thomas COONEY, died at the home of Mrs. Wm. COONEY, Thursday forenoon. He had been very feeble of late years. He had been failing fast the last few months and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Cooney has experienced most of the up and downs of early life in Kansas, having homesteaded in the western part of the state. He had remarkable vitality, living to the age of 86 years. Of late years he has made his home with his son, William who preceeded him in death by two months and six days.
