HEACOCK's annual school report, covering the period from June 1896 to June 1897, we glean the following statistics that may interest our readers: Number of school children in county, 3448, all of them white except 2. Number of teachers employed in county, 96; the males teachers being paid an average of $40 per month and the females $33.50 per month. There are 87 school buildings in Harper county, estimated to be worth $74,100 and only one of them was built during the year. One other school house has been built since June 30. The bonded indebtedness of these buildings is $73,688. There are 88 school districts in the county, four of which had no school and two were disorganized.
