The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday September 2, 1898 Married Last Night. The marriage of Miss Jennie C. SMITH of Salina to Mr. Andrew F. SENTER of Anthony, occurred last evening at 5:30 at the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. C.H. SMITH, on University avenue, just south of the Normal University. Rev. Creigo of the Baptist church officiated, and the ceremony was very simple and pronounced with all due solemnity befitting the occasion. Miss Smith is the youngest daughter of Mrs. C. H. Smith and Mrs. Senter is the superintendent of the city schools of Anthony, Kan. She is a graduate of the Normal University in the teachers' course, and has taught in this county. Mr. SENTER bears the degree of B.S. and holds a state certificate. Both are graduates of the Normal College and are held in high esteem by the faculty and students. The ceremony was attended by the faculty of the college and a few invited friends. The happy couple left for Wichita last eveing on the Missouri Pacific amidst a shower of rice, old shoes, etc., their baggage entwined with white ribbon and labeled "Handle with care; newly married," and other joking placards. They will visit a few days in Wichita before going on to Anthony, where they wil immediately go to housekeeping. A large number of handsome and useful presents were received from admiring friends and relatives. --Salina Union, Thursday, August 25.

Mrs. MOORE of Medicine Lodge is visiting her daughter Mrs. Clark RACKLEY. Miss Lula HILL was at Wellington the first of the week consulting Dr. SPITLER. Mrs. Mont MURPHY is home from Kansas City where she has been visiting relatives. Mrs. Anna MORGAN who has been visiting her son Charley returned this week to her home in Oklahoma. Mrs. NEUMEYER and daughter, Lilllie, left Saturday for Carthage, Mo., to join Mr. NEUMEYER and George. Misses Fannie and Ella DENNIS returned today to their school work among the Indians in New Mexico. Miss Jesse STONE and children returned Tuesday to Wichita Falls, Texas, after a very pleasant visit with her parents.

The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday August 26, 1898 Mrs. John A. HALL, mother of Mrs. J. T. RICHMOND, of this city, died at her home in Caldwell last Saturday morning. Mrs. HALL was quite well known in Anthony and had friends who admired her for her excellent character. She was a good wife and mother, a strong christian and an excellent neighbor, and leaves a decided vacancy in home, church and society. The Anthony friends of Mrs. Richmond sympathize with her in her bereavement.
The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday August 19, 1898 James TALLEY died at his home Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., after an illness of three weeks of typhoid fever. The funeral occurred today from the Methodist church conducted by Rev. FOOSE of Sharon, pastor of the church of which the deceased was a member. He leaves a wife, two daughters, a son and a large circle of friends who appreciated his worth and merit and mourn that Heaven should claim its own in the very prime of life. The remains were interred in the Harper cemetery by brother Woodmen and Knights of the Fireside.

The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday July 29, 1898 Heck-Carson. Rev. W. T. McLAIN of the Christian church of this city, united in marriage John O. HECK and Miss Jessie CARSON at the residence of the bride's parents Sunday, July 24th. Miss Carson is the daughter of Superintendent L. Carson of the Poor Farm and is a most estimable young lady. Mr. Heck is one of Harper county's prominent citizens and is to be congratulated on his selection of a wife. The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday April 22, 1898 Mr. and Mrs. J.A. McPHEE are occupying rooms over the Hurd stone building lately vacated by Mr. and Mrs. J.W. CLENDENIN. Doctor BOWERS has puchased the McPhee property and they gave possession this week. The largest yield of wheat we have heard of this season was raised by John PRESTON of Berlin township. One field of hard wheat yielded twenty-four and another thirty-three bushels. Mr. Preston's neighbors claim him to be the champion wheat grower of their township this year. W.O. HAMMERS is convalescing from a serious attatck of malarial fever. It was feared for some time that it would develop into typhoid fever, but at last reports the fever was broken and he was able to be up and around. They have had a case of typhoid fever in their family annually for the past three years and they are very much in hope that they will be able to escape this year. Miss Grace LAPHAM has been assisting in the postoffice recently and we understand she will have charge of the general delivery window under Postmaster CROOKER. With proper experience Miss Lapham will make a valuable clerk in the postoffice. Sam P. JONES, the grain man, Sundayed with Anthony friends. Mr. Jones is buying grain for a Kansas City house, and says that all along the road he is greeted with the Kansas City Star's story about being Sam Jones the evangelist. W.A. MILLER went down to Deer Creek and Nardin Thursday of this week. He reports a heavy rain in that section and the corn crop practically assured.

The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday July 22, 1898 Miss Jessie AYRES died at her home in Ottumwa, Iowa, Tuesday of this week and was buried in Agency, Iowa, Thursday. Miss Ayres was a niece of Mrs. I.M. COUCH and will be remembered as having spent part of last winter here for her health. She was a young lady of many accomplishments and her friends here will join with the relatives here and in Iowa in mourning her death.
The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday July 22, 1898 Harry Bowers Kilborn. Harry Bowers KILBORN, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. A. Kilborn, was born in Anthony, December 26, 1896, and died in the morning of July 19, 1898. The little fellow had been suffering for some time from an attack of Whooping cough, but was getting along nicely, but Tuesday night inflammation of the bowels set in and he died early Wednesday morning. He was a bright and interesting baby and was idolized by the parents and relatives. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. R. EDWARDS of the Baptist church, at the family residence at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning, and the interment followed in Forest Park cemetery. In their sad affliction Mr. and Mrs. Kilborn have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.
The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday July 22, 1898 Obituary. Maud SHELTON was born in Kentucky Sept. 17, 1842. Died in Anthony July 15, 1898. She had been sick several months. She was married when she was about 20 years old to Mr. TUBBS. She leaves 4 children to mourn her loss. Mrs. TUBBS became a christian when a little girl and was a member of the Christian church. She was a kind and loving mother. Funeral services conducted at the family residence by the pastor of the Christian church after which she was laid away in the cemetery east of the city. also in the same paper, same date. Mrs. TUBBS died at the family residence in this city last Friday morning after a lingering illness of several months. She was the mother of four children, and was an excellent mother, a good neighbor and a kind friend. She was buried Saturday morning in Forest Park cemetery.

The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday July 22, 1898 Danville. We had a pleasant little shower Tuesday evening. John ELVIN, of Hoisington, was in Danville last weeks. Miss Alta CLARK is visiting Miss Nellie MORGAN at Argonia. Mrs. BICKFORD has a felon on her hand which is very painful. Mrs. PHIPPS has been very sick this week but at this writing is resting easy. Mrs. KELLAR is suffering from the effects of a nail which came in contact with her foot. E.E. SALSER helped in the store of Gleason & Pickens during their trip to the strip. J.C. ELVIN and wife returned home Tuesday after an extended visit in Illinois and Indiana. The dance at STURN's grove last Friday night was well attended and all report a good time.

Mrs. GILLESPIE's music class had a picnic at Edwards' grove yesterday. C.E. SMITH of Monticello, Ill., who has been visiting his brother, has returned to his home. Mrs. BRIROFF, of Kiowa, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. HEPSHER has returned to Beverly, Mo. Harry CAMPBELL of Wichita who has been visiting his cousin, Mattie WALTON, returned home Tuesday. Mrs. Jessie STONE and children arrived Monday from Wichita Falls to visit her parents, Dr. and Mrs. ERVIN. John WHITE and wife returned Tueday from Indianapolis, Ind., where they had been with the remains of their mother, Harriet B. WHITE. Walter BUTLER, H.S. PALMER, W. BRIGGS, Eva PARKER, Luella COLLINS, Nellie SMITH, Edna WHARTON, and Annie McINTIRE left Monday to attend the district league convention at Medicine Lodge.
