The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday January 13, 1899 Gwinn-McGowen. Rev. J.R. Edwards, of the Bapist church performed the marriage ceremony for Samuel A. GWINN and Norma McGOWEN, last Thursday evening, January 5, at 8 o'clock at the country home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.A. McGowen. The ceremony was witinessed by the immediate family relatives, and a majority of young people of the neighborhood. One of the unique features of the evening was the charivari party that had for its leader and captain, J.H. MEYERS, and it was composed of the old folks of the neighborhood, men and women and a merry crowd they proved, and they furnished a first-class charivari. The next day, Friday, the couple were entertained by the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Gwinn, and a jolly party of invited guests assembled to do them honor. Mr. Gwinn is the oldest son of County Treasurer A.C. Gwinn, and is one of Silver Creek townships most successful farmers, while his wife as Miss Norma McGowen, had a host of friends and acquaintances who insist that Mr! . Gwinn was doubly fortunate in acquiring the hand and heart of so estimatable a young lady. They certainly start in life together very auspiciously, and they have the hearty congratulations of many friends, and their best wishes for their future, in which the Bulletin joins. They will live on the Gwinn farm six miles east of Anthony.

The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday January 13, 1899 Steen,--Emma STEEN, infant daughter of Allen W. and Cora E. Steen of Wakita, Okla., died November 21, 1898; born November 20th. The dear little one was called to heaven without any warning. Oh so very sad to the dear mother and father over this sore bereavement, we write these words, "Gods will sand ways are past finding out. We know the Saviour has a divine right to claim His own because he has not only created them but redeemed them with His own precious blood. It is ours to lie passive in His hands; He doeth all things well. Let us anticipate union in heaven; God has a dwelling place for all his children. The child is not dead but living, not lost but gone before. The tender bud was taken from earth to bloom in the paradise of God."

The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday December 16, 1898 Bert DAVIS returned home the first of the week, his regiment, the Twenty-first Kansas, having been mustered out of service. Bert made a good soldier, and is home looking none the worse for his term of service for Uncle Sam. While not in any battles during the war, he is entitled to as much credit as though he was, for he, like the majority of his company and regiment was willing and anxious to go to the front, and would re-enlist if his country again called for volunteers.

The Anthony Weekly Bulletin Harper County Friday December 2, 1898 A Good Woman Gone. Miss Emma YEAGER, of Portsmouth, Ohio, died Thursday morning at a quarter to 7 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. A. C. RICHARDSON. Miss Yeager was a resident of Anthony several years ago, and made her home with Mrs. Richardson and during her residence here made many friends and acquaintances. She but recently came from Portsmouth for a visit and being in poor health had hoped our climate would be of benefit to her, but a disease that climate could not affect, had possession of her and day by day her friends watched here grow gradually weatker and weaker until her death came to her relief. She had the benefit of good medical attendance, careful nursing and the help and sympathy of a loving sister, and her last hours were made as comfortable as possible. The funeral was held at the Richardson home, Thursday afternoon, Rev. ENGLE of the Methodist church, officiating, with a choir from the churches. Miss Yeager united with the Baptist church when but 13 years of age and ha! s been a consistent christian ever since. The remains were taken to Portsmouth, Ohio, for burial, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Richardson. The many friends of the deceased in this city heartily sympathize with the afflicted family in their bereavement.

WONNER, at Osawatomie. Mr. Wonner had been unusually well the fore part of the week, and had seemed stronger mentally than for years, but Wednesday he had a stroke and never entirely rallied from it. Mrs. Wonner and the children accompanied by Denny MAYES, went up to Osawatomie, Friday afternoon and the body was made ready for shipment to the home of Mr. Wonner's mother, in Osceloa, Iowa. Mr. MAYES accompanied Mrs. Wonner to Kansas City, and saw her safely on the Iowa train before returning to Anthony. Masonic brethren at Oswatomie and Kansas City rendered efficient service to Mrs. Wonner in the hour of her trials, and Mr. Mayes is loud in his praise of the thoughtfulness and assistance of members of that order. Mr. Wonner was for years a resident of Anthony and had a host of friends who will be glad to know that his death has removed him from a bondage worse than de! ath, but will sympathize with the widow in her bereavement.
