Obituary from unnamed paper: Ethel Florence Howard, age 103, of Neodesha, died Thursday, May 20, 1993, at Mercy Hospital in Independence. She was a former resident of Mulvane. Ethel was born April 22, 1890 in Quincy, Ill, the daughter of Gideon Bartholomew and Eva (Shull) Bartholomew. She moved to a farm southeast of Mulvane with her family as a child. She attended school in Mulvane and grduated from Mulvane High School in 1911. She attended Emporia State College. She taught school at the Star Rural School near Mulvane. She later taught at Mulvane Elementary School. In 1917 she was united in marriage to Clifford Howard at Mulvane. They lived in Mulvane and later moved to Neal. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two sons, Orene Howard of Neodesha and Wayne Howard of Garfield, Ark.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Herbert and Floyd. Funeral services were held Monday at the Mulvane United Methodist Church with Rev. John Hastings officiating. Interment followed at the Mulvane Cemetery. The family suggests memorial remembrances to the American Heart Association. Contributions may be sent in care of Potts Chapel, P.O.
