    3. The following is transcribed from page 266 of The History of Greenwood County, Kansas Volume II: The George H. A. Kerr Family George H. A. Kerr, son of James and Margaret (Shreve) Kerr, was born in Erie County, Pennsylvania on March 3, 1844,. George went to school in Mill Village, Pennsylvania. He enrolled in the 83rd regiment of Pennsylvania on August 10, 1861. He was shot three time sduring the Civil War; on August 31, 1862 at Bull Run, on June 3, 1863, and on May 6, 1864. He was honorably discharged September 20, 1864. In 1874, George moved to Nemaha County, Kansas, and then to Coffey County for three years before moving to Greenwood County in 1884. He married first Jane Sutton Vetito Guesy on January 10, 1877. To this union two children were born: Cora M. Kerr (married Harvey Cooper of Marlow, Oklahoma) and Leon Kerr (married Nettie M. Cook of Reece, Kansas). George married second Lovie Vetito of Coffey County, Kansas. To this union the following children were born: Orville Paul (married Lura B. Cook of Reece), Ray O. (never married), Myrtle F. (married Ralph Praisewater), Grace M. (married Thomas Hughes), Rex A. (married first Edith Weaver, second Edna Adams) and Gladys (married W. Ray Prather). George was a farmer and rancher in Spring Creek Township. In the same section of land was located the Spring Creek School. George lived at that location unit his death on Janury 15, 1915. The grandchildren of George H. A. Kerr who grew up n the Greenwood County are as as follows: the children of Leon and Nettie (Cook) Kerrr, Cecil (never married), Muriel (married Marvin Dunn), Kenneth W. (Married Dorothy Stevens), and Alice Jean (married Bill Umberson); the children of Orville and Lura (Cook) Kerr, Faye R. (married Brent Jacoby), and Howavrd V. married Elgeva Smith); the children of Grace (Kerr) ahd Thomas Hughes, Nadine married David Campbell), Paul (married John Qeitzell), Clyde (never married), Dorothy (married Lloyd Stanley), and Marjorie (married Bil Williams); the children of Gladys (Kerr) and W. Ray Prather, Rayond (married Virginia Hale), Carl (married Rena Boone), Dorothy (married first Lester Bovcox, second Raymond Dupy), and Phyllis (married Arthur Call). All of tehse grandschildren, except for the Huges children, graduated from Reece High School. George, his first wife, his second wife, and all his children except Grace (buried in Eureka) and Cora (buried in Marlow, Oklahoma) are buried in the Reece Cemetery. However, I'm assumng that this Grace Kerr is NOT your Grace as it sounds like Kerr was her maiden name. But just in case some of the names link with yours, thought I would provide it for you.
