He had leukemia. He was born August 28, 1975, at Sabetha, the son of Douglas H. and Sue A. Robinson Mitchell. He lived in Sabetha and attended school there through the second grade. He moved with his family to the Hamilton area in 1983 and attended school at Hamilton from third grade through his junior year. Cameron was an honor student and enjoyed sports. He played football and basketball as long as his health allowed. He received a letter in basketball and was a member of the "H" Letter Club. He enjoyed music and played piano and trumpet. He played in the school band for three years. He also was the Greenwood County Spelling Bee champion in eighth grade and later participated on the "High-Q" team. He attended the Hugh O'Brien Youth Fellowship seminar at Wichita State University. Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Jason Dean Mitchell of Sabetha and Brook Denton Mitchell of Hamilton; his grandparents, Cedric E. and Marrietta Blough Robinson of Sabetha and Merle S. and Eda F. Mitchell of rural Eureka; great-grandfather, Jessie H. Matlock of Eureka, and a great-grandmother, Elizabeth Saylor Robinson of Sabetha. The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hamilton School. The Reverend Jean Robinson and the Reverend Gary Roellchen conducted the service. Burial was in Janesville Cemetery at Hamilton. Memorial contributions to the Cameron M. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Fund at Hamilton High School may be sent to the Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home in Eureka.
