She was born Dec. 3, 1913, in Russell County to Joseph and Letitia B. (Evans) Luder. She married Arthur A. Austin on April 16, 1938, in Wilson. He died Jan. 1, 1988. She was a longtime Hill City resident, moving to Scott City in 1999. She was a teacher and homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hill City, and the Delta Kappa Gamma. She was preceded in death by two children, two sisters and two brothers. Burial at Wilson City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Gracie V. Austin Memorial Fund or United Methodist Youthville.
