Hi Margaret, Given the existence of a Kinderknecht family in the same area as the Rinderknecht family you are looking for, I was thinking: If you got the name from a handwritten source, such as a census form or family bible or other document written by a family member, it might be that the "R" you saw was really a "K". They do look quite a bit alike, especially when they are printed. Just a thought.
