The Valley Falls New Era Thursday December 31, 1914 Death of Mary Veech Steele-Dean. Mary Veech STEELE, was born July 9, 1826, at Ross county, Ohio, married Robert A. DEAN in 1854, moved to Kansas in 1857 and settled near Clinton on a farm. She had three sons and one daughter, two of which are deceased. She and her husband were charter members of the First Presbyterian church of Lawrence organized May, 1858. In 1865 they transferred their membership to Clinton, where she still retains her membership. Her husband died in 1890, since which time she has resided in Lawrence. She was sick about two weeks and was attended by her two sons, James and Harley DEAN of Clinton and Frank DEAN of Valley Falls, Kansas. She gently passed away at 9 a.m., December 27. --Lawrence Journal -World.
