One method of checking on H. T. Jones would be by using the city directories for that period. They are available at the Lawrence Public library. There are probably records at the Court House and/or Historical Society regarding county officials, but they are not as easily accessible. There were several newspapers in Lawrence at that time. However, the main one was the Lawrence Journal-World, which operated from 1911 and is still in operation. Previous to that, there was the Lawrence Journal from 1879-1911 and the Lawrence World from 1892 to 1911, when they combined. There was also the Lawrence Daily Gazette 1885-1920. The Lawrence Democrat 1910-1942 and the Lawrence Germainia 1891-1918. Microfilm copies of the Lawrence Journal, Lawrence World, and Lawrence Journal-World are avaiable for research at the Lawrence Public library as are some of the newspapers. Microfilm is also available at Kansas State Historical Society in Topeka and/or can be obtained by interlibrary loan from them. Contact me directly if you need further help.
