    3. I am seeking information on my great great grandfather. Any information could provide would be greatly appreciated. Here is what I have so far... Mathew Emery Osborn was born 2 Apr 1829 in Guilford County, NC. In March of 1867, he moved to Douglas County, KS. Both of these events are recorded in Hinshaw's Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy Volume I (North Carolina) as he was a Quaker. He was married three times: wife 1: Nancy Emaline White (b. 8/30/1844 in NC, d. 2/7/1875 in KS) -- don't know marriage date or if any children were born wife 2: Mary Harkness (b. 2/24/1811, m. 7/14/1875 in KS, d. 6/17/1877 in Anderson County, KS) -- don't know if any children were born wife 3: Jarusha Morgan (b. ~1846, m. 1878, d. 1890 in KS) Matthew Emery & Jarusha Morgan had five children: (1) Sue May (b. 1880, d. 1899) -- this birth was recorded in the Quaker records in Guilford County, NC (2) Sarah Gay (b. 1882, d. 1882) -- this birth & death were recorded in the Quaker records in Guilford County, NC (3) George Matthew (b. 1885 near Bush City, KS) -- my great grandfather (4) Lee E (b. 1887, d. 1891) -- this birth was recorded in the Quaker records in Guilford County, NC (5) Sammie Fay (b. 1889 near Bush City, KS) Matthew Emery died 8 Jul 1905 in Walnut, KS. I can't seem to locate any records of Matthew Emery in Kansas or anything about his first two wives. It seems odd that his two oldest children would be recorded in the Quaker records in NC, if they were born in KS -- is this something Quakers do? Thanks in advance for your help! Laura Adrian
