Obituary The Oread, February 19, 1999 Lawrence, Douglas county, Kansas USA The Oread, February 19, 1999 John C. GINN (has photo) John C. GINN, 62, Lawrence, died Feb. 9. He was the Knight Foundation Distinguished Teaching Professor of Journalism at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications. He also was a member of the board of directors of the Lied Center. He earned his bachelor's of science in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1959 and a master's degree in business administration, with distinction, from Harvard University in 1972. He was reporter and editor in Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina and Tennessee before becoming publisher of the Anderson (S.C.) Independent-mail in 1974. Survivors include his former wife, Diane KELLEY GINN of Anderson, S. C.; three sons, John P. "Jack" of Waverly, Iowa, Mark C. of Boone, N. C., and W. Stanfield of Emeryville, Calif.; a stepson, Kelley SEAWRIGHT of Anderson S. C.; and three grandchildren.
