    3. Hello List Members, I am interested in contact with any descendants of Rev. (Alfred) Wiley JonesB:14 December, 1804 Va.-D:15 December, 1877 Baldwin City, Douglas County, Kansas, (a son of James Jones and wife Nancy (?) ) and wife Abigail Butram B: 28 September, 1807 Wayne Co., Ky.-D:13 April, 1866 Prairie City, Ks.. Rev. Jones was born in Va. and moved with his parents and siblings when only 2 or 3 years old to Wayne County, Kentucky. They lived in the area known as Beaver Creek. His siblings were Abner, John, Sina, Elizabeth, Milly (Melinda), Thomas, Wilson, Mary, and Nancy. He married Abigail Butram, a daughter of Cornelius Buttram and wife Nancy Woodard, in Wayne Co., Ky. 07 Oct. 1823. They were among a large group of friends and relatives who left Wayne Co., Ky. by wagontrain in 1830, and settled in Hensley Twp., in Johnson Co., Indiana. He continued to be a Justice of the Peace and Circuit Rider preacher for the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1848, the family again moved to Harrisonville, Cass Co., Missouri, where Rev. Wiley Jones continued his religious activites, and those of a Justice of the Peace. When Kansas was still a Territory, the family moved to the Prairie City/Baldwin City, Douglas County, Kansas area. Members of the family donated land for the building upon the land of where the Baker University stands, and helped build it with stones. Wiley and Abigail had 10 children-7 sons, and 3 daughters. Five of their sons served with the Union Cavalry during the Civil War. Three paid the supreme sacrifice, and gave their lives as a result of being wounded on battlefields. The names of their 10 children were:Nancy Jones Balay, **James Cornelius Jones, **John Nelson Jones, Abner Lafayette Jones, Jacob P. Jones, **Wilson Lee Jones, *William Thomas Jones, *Alfred Wiley Jones, Elizabeth Jones Pleasents, Sina Jones 1/Williams,2/Coberly. a single * indicates services during the Civil War. A ** indicates death as a result of wounds incurred on the battlefield(s). Rev. Wiley Jones and wife Abigail Butram are buried in Pioneer Cemetery, located on the outskirts of Baldwin City, in Douglas County, Kansas. I would be most happy to connect with descendants of the above families, and very willing to share information.
