The Topeka Daily Capital Friday January 18, 1952 William Docking, Banker, Dies at 87. Kansas City.--William DOCKING, 87, Lawrence banker for many years, died tonight at St. Mary's hospital. He had been chairman of the board of the First National Bank, Lawrence, 10 years. He began his banking career as a cashier in the People's National Bank, Clay Center, in 1883. Docking became a vice-president before he left in 1914 to join the Merchants National Bank in Lawrence. He was general receiver for banks in Kansas in the 1920's. In 1927 he became chairman of the board of the National Bank of Topeka, a post held until 1931, when be became president of the First National Bank in Lawrence. In 1942 he was named chairman of the board and was active until he became ill about a month ago. Surviving are his widow, a daughter, and a son, George Docking, president of the First National Bank, Lawrence. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lawrence.
