    3. I am beginning to research the Morton and Tucker families. On the 1880 census, Dexter Tucker was a farmer at Palmyra, Douglas Co. KS and he was born 1 Mar 1834 and died 1920. He was born in NY but I am trying to find where in NY. One of his daughters, Fannie Tucker, born 26 Jan 1866 was a graduate of Baldwin College, this I would also like to document. She also married a M orton. Is there a Historical Society for Douglas Co? Where exactly is Palmyra? I would appreciate any info and thanks in advance. Helen from Florida

    3. Will try to give you some of the info. you are requesting. Palmyra no longer exists as a town in Douglas Co. It was combined into what in presently Baldwin City, in the southeast part of the County. However, Baldwin City is in Palmyra Township of Douglas Co., so the name still exists regarding townships. You mention that Fannie Tucker was a graduate of Baldwin College. The College/Univ. that exists at Baldwin City is actually named Baker University. There is also a Baldwin College that is at Berea, Ohio. The John Baldwin that the Douglas Co. town is named for was also the founder of the College in Ohio. I have a published list of alumni of the Baker Univ., but it only lists living persons as of 1993, so no help there. The college would have the records, but may not have access to them at the present time. They are expanding their library and the archives in the library basement is closed for about a year. The alumni listing may reside elsewhere as well. I live in Baldwin City, Kansas. I find the burial records of many of the Tucker family are right here in Baldwin City at Oakwood Cemetery. There appear to be 13 graves that are probably related to each other, but maybe you can figure it out. Dexter Tucker, b. 21 Mar. d. 10 May 1920 Emma Tucker, his wife, b. 1 June 1847, d. 4 Jan. 1923 Shirley D. Williamson, dau. of E. & D. T. Williamson, b. 27 Dec. 1921, d. 3 Jan. 1922 Harace D.
